Dear Jan,

I would suggest that you join a listserve and share your ideas with your fellow rabbit breeders.  Antibiotics are usually NOT recommended in most cases of mucoid enteritis, in any case.  You can find the most recent information on intestinal problems in rabbits here:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/ileus.html

and

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/poop.html

Hope it helps.

Answer
Dear Jan,

I haven't used Lactobacillus acidophilus and tansy to cure severe mucoid enteritis because the causes are various, and need to be treated specifically.  But if you would like to share your experience NOT AS A BREEDER, but as a lover of rabbits (Breeder discussions are NOT allowed on this list), then you could check out EtherBun at:

www.bio.miami.edu/hare/etherbun.html

Please read the rules before joining, as any discussion of breeding rabbits or using them as food or any other commodity is strictly forbidden.

But the list is more than 4000 people strong, and very active.  If your remedy works, then the word will spread.

Hope this helps.

Dana
