Frosty cold vegetables?

22 10:03:33

Question
Hello Dana,

The other day I read in a forum that we should not offer wet and frost vegetables (recently removed from the refrigerator) for rabbits, because they may have intestinal complications...

Is this true?
Thank you very much.

Answer
Dear Cintia

We always give our bunnies very wet greens, as this helps hydrate the intestinal contents.  This is healthy and not dangerous.

Very cold vegetables are probably not harmful, but bunnies don't like frozen or frostbitten vegetables.  If you're concerned, then just let the vegetables warm up to room temperature before you serve them.  They can be cool and wet.

Hope this helps.

Dana
