Hate at first sight bonding

Question
Hi Gem, I have a 4 month old female rabbit who I've looked after since she was 6 weeks old.  Last week I found an abandoned young adult female rabbit in the bush and brought her home.  She is extremely docile and placid, where as my first bunny, Biddles, is a bit more outgoing, independent and adventurous.  I introduced them initially and Biddles went straight in as an aggressor and they had a fur flying scuffle which I quickly split up and separated them.  I kept them within sight of each other for a few days and then let them meet each other again through a gate.  The new rabbit, Frankie, seemed quite curious about Biddles, who had no hesitation in attempting to bite her on the nose through the gate and had there not been a gate I'm sure another fight would have occurred. Would desexing both parties make a big difference to their relationship? And now that they have got off on the wrong foot, are they likely to ever be friends? Do you have any suggestions as to how I may work with them to build a friendship between them? Eventually I would like them to be able to share playtime without tearing each other's hair out (literally).
With thanks,
Catherine McGraffin

Answer
Hello Catherine! Thanks for choosing me to answer your question :-)

Having both of them spayed would help immensely, all the hormones that are flying around are causing the dangerous fights.

If no blood is being drawn, just fur flying then the advice is not to split them up, they are just trying to establish who is going to be the boss.

I'm going to point you in the direction of an excellent article on Bonding, I really hope it helps and please do come back and let me know how you get on :-)
