Bonding female rabbits

Question
Hello,
I currently have 2 female rabbits (Brownie, 1 yr - CoCo, 5 months) and they can't seem to get along. Months before I picked up CoCo, Brownie's sister Marshmellow had passed away reason why I decided to get another rabbit maybe 2 months later. Not too long after getting CoCo, I had brownie spayed and it's about 3 months later with no luck. CoCo clearly wants to make a connection (asking to be groomed, tries to groom Brownie, tries to interact with her, attempts to lay next to her) but Brownie is not allowing herself to.

I currently have them in a play pen together where its closed off in the middle. They are able to interact with each other and see what they're doing all day long.

What happens when I put them together:
Brownie sniffs CoCo for a bit and may either ignore, nip, or attack. Brownie is also known to be a bit aggressive.
I have tried having them eat from the same pile, exercising in the room together, feeding them treats together, petting them to calm them, ability to see and smell each other daily.

My question is, how can they be bonded safely? Will they ever bond? Could things possibly be different if CoCo was spayed as well?

Any information would be helpful.

Answer
Dear Melizza,

It's promising that at least one of the girls wants to be friendly. That means there may be hope.  For some very good tips and procedures on bonding, please check the articles here:

It can take time, and same-sex pairs are often harder to bond than opposite sex pairs.  Is Coco spayed?  If not, that is a smart thing to have done, and bring Brownie along for the ride and company, even if in a separate carrier.  Shared stress can really help a bonding.

Hope this helps!
