Question
Hello, I've have 2 altered house rabbits (Female mini rex and male lion head) and recently bought a Netherlands dwarf to show at fair as an FFA project for my high school daughter. I am NOT interested in breeding her. Can I get her fixed? will the judges know that she has been altered? I'm afraid of fighting, spraying, and cancer.

Answer
Dear Lynn,

You are wonderful to care more about your bunny's welfare than what the judges might think.  In fact, a show is about the most dangerous, stressful thing to which you can subject your bunny, and I would seriously discourage you from showing her.  I'd find another project.  A bunny is a member of the family, not a project.  :)

For all the best information on bunny care, please see:

I would definitely advise you to have her spayed by a good rabbit vet:

But shows?  Not so much.  Disease, parasites, stress...all the bad things are there.  I know too many horror stories about bunnies dying at or shortly after being shown...

Take care,

Dana
