rabbit coat color genetics

Question
hi i have just bred my caster rex with my black rex what colur will i get

Answer
Dear Maria,

Unless you know the heritage of each of these rabbits, it is impossible to know the colors the babies will be.  If either parent is harboring the same recessive alleles for colors, then the babies could be colors other than black or castor.  But if you don't know what other coat color alleles are hiding in the parents, you'll have to wait and see.

If the castor bunny is homozygous for all gene loci coding for the castor color, then the babies will likely be 100% castor.  But if not, there could be a mix of colors.

But, more importantly, please read:

I hope this helps.
