Cloudy Urine

Question
At the end of urination, our pigs urine is so white that you can still see it on the grass after she moves. She is about 6 weeks old and we purchased her about 3 days ago. We are not sure how reputable our breeder was. We have done our research, she is getting approx 1 cup of Mazuri pig food per day. Several bowel movements and urinations per day. Cannot tell if all urinations end with whitish urine. She is playful, loving and personality seems healthy. Any idea?

Answer
I am not a veterinarian and can not make a medical diagnosis over the internet.

A whitish residue after urination is usually a sign of infection. Your piggy needs to see a vet to determine what is causing the infection and the proper medicine to fix it. There's a list of vets that see pot-bellied pigs here www.farec.org

Feeding pigs is more of an art than a science. The general rule of thumb is 1/2 cup of food per 15 lb of piglet, no less than 1/2 cup, divided into two meals daily, supplemented with veggies and fruits.

The calories in treats add up quickly, so try to save treats for training. Or, measure out the treats in the morning, put them in a dish. When the treats are gone for the day, no more until the next day.
