QuestionThanks for all the great info on your website! After reading your info I learned a lot about Ivomec and Ivermectin. However, there is so much info available uot there - finally I located the ivermectin in a paste form but says it's only available for horses. It's the same ivermectin so how much of the paste (that comes in a syringe) do you give a little piggy? 8lbs to be exact. Also, the itching and scratching is driving us all mad! What is the best solution for us - and how long does it take for the medicine to take hold. Thanks so much. DMR :)
Answer You are welcome!
The horse Ivermectin paste is not suggested for swine and is off label use.
Besides that, it would be literally impossible to dose an 8# pig on meds for a half ton of horse!
You can order swine Ivermectin online, we use Jeffers (do a search).
Two injections 2 weeks apart. You will notice a difference in about 2-3 days, maybe faster.
You can give the injectable type orally (double the dose and put it in a peanut butter sadwich ) but it is not as effective....
And, as you probably know, humans can catch sarcoptic mange mites and get the itchies, too!
But I know how you feel, watching the tormented pig itch.
