Question
my sisters pig just had babies and my sister has been bottle feeding them since birth. how long should she bottle feed and at what age should she start actual foods?

Answer
Is there  a reason the mother is not feeding them?
With pigs, they are never bottle fed, but instead "pan fed" if mom cannot feed them......
The reason for this is that pigs often aspirate the milk from the bottle into their lungs , causing pneumonia, which can take their lives. The second reason is that bottle fed pigs tend to get aggressive....later on in life, and can turn into biters...... The opposite of other mammals...

Piglets of all breeds are taught to eat out of a shallow pan, like a cookie sheet with sides. It may take 24 hours to switch them, but we suggest it.  Let them walk in it, dip their faces into it....Goat's milk is closest to pig's milk and the most digestible.
Piglets can start eating baby rice cereal mixed with milk at 2 weeks, pig feed mixed with milk at 3-4 weeks. You must start with just a TINY amount, mixed with the milk or they will reject it.

But try and convince her to give up the bottle...too many piglets succumb to pneumonia and the owner doesn't have a clue. We suggest our book at valentinesperformingpigs.com
Good luck!
