Question
Hi Priscilla...

My mom and i live in Baja California....mom just purchased a baby pot bellied pig from a local pet store...We took her directly from the pet store to a local vet to have her checked out...Unfortunately we have yet to find a vet that cares for pot bellies...The owner of the pet store said she is about 4 months old...however, she is really tiny...The vet weighed her and measured her and she is 4 lbs and about 11 inches long...My qquestion is, what is the average weight of a 4 month old pot bellied pig?  I think she is more like 4-6 weeks old...She eats her chow really good but so far will not eat any fruits or veggies.  Being that we are in mexico, i am just a little concerned that she may not be a true pot belly and possibly a "hog"...so, are there any physical charactoristics that can help us to identify her as a pot bellied pig....She is such a little doll...very very smart...She already knows her name and has never had an accident in the house...We have 3 ferrets and 2 dogs and she plays great with all...Sometime, we think she thinks she is a ferret...

Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Answer
A pb pig generally weighs one pound for each week of age, up to one year.
So, I am guessing from your description you have a 4 week old pb pig.
Breeders will lie about the age in an attempt to make the pig seem small for its age.
I hope you enjoy your new baby!
Please consider our book "Potbellied Pig Behavior and Training" at amazon.com. It will guide you through pighood developement and also the entire life of your pig.
It is the newest and most complete book on the mini pigs and the color photos are to die for!
