Questionhi,
My mini pig gave birth to babies.... five were healthy the sixth was a runt that's part blind and bowed legged. now my healthy babies have completely switched over to the regular food but my part blind runt still is stuck on the bottle... what do i do?
AnswerThe bowed legs and blindness indicate this little piggy may have more problems inside. His digestive system may not be able to process hard pellets, or he may not have teeth to chew them. He may need additional nutritional supplements. Because his development is lagging behind the others, I strongly recommend he see a veterinarian. There's a list of vets that see mini-pigs here www.farec.org
Try mixing just a few pellets with warm goat milk. Make sure the pellets are completely dissolved. Gradually increase the amount of pellets until the mix is the consistency of runny oatmeal. It's possible this baby may need to eat soft food only for his whole life.
