weaning and neutering

Question
We have 1 5 1/2 month old baby boy{Wilbur}and 4 5 week old baby boys Bert, Baxter, Barney and Bubba.
1 // Lou LOU gave birth to 8 beautiful babies 5 weeks ago. Everyone is now eating very well a P.B.Piglet Chow with chopped fruits and vegs as treats. Will Lou Lou wean her babies. We hand fed the original 3 as she would not.

2  //  Leroy is the Dad to all. My question is we have info from the Farmers Co-op gentleman as to the method of neutering ALL my boys so I don't end up with hundreds of the bundles. The method is the one used on farms.

Slip both sides, pop and pull or slice with a scalpel and wash with iodine. To sedate older piggers like Leroy [ he is 15 months old} they use small amounts of Scotch.

There it is. Any info would be great.

Thanks, Wendy

Answer
Hello,
Piglets are usually ready to wean at 5 to 6 weeks of age.  It is very individual depending on their size and how hardy they are.
You will need to separate them or they will just keep nursing and that will totally deplete the sow.
Neutering the males is tricky.  PBP's have very then stomach linings and if you neuter them they can herniate.  Their stomach will come out of the incision.
You need to take them to a vet who and put them under and neuter them properly.  They should have stitches to hold things together also.
