Sneezing and Hiccuping

Question
QUESTION: I got my little Stargirl for Christmas just 4 days ago from Petsmart. As soon as she got home she was sneezing, I made sure I didn't have any sort of wood shavings in her cage, just the cardboard stuff. I listened to her chest and breathing for congestion or wheezing, and there was none. I tried to read up on it as much as I could, and I just hoped it would stop, it hasn't- but it has become less often but still every couple of minutes at least. Now yesterday I was holding her she she went into little convulsions and was making squeaky noises, I looked it up and found out it was hiccups. So I figured it was just that, and I didn't think to much of it.
Well just a little while ago, it happened again. I am pretty worried about her, and I really don't know what to do. She is my first rat, and she is quite young, I just want to know if there is anything I can do. She has a 14 day medical guarantee on her, but I don't want to have to take her back...
we have a pretty good connection, she 'grinds' her teeth a lot, which I heard is a kind of purring.
So please, and help you could give me would be greatly appreciated.
we have

ANSWER: I don't think its hiccups. Hiccups are definately just hiccups -- their body jumps a bit and they may squeak but its not a painful sound. If shes CONVULSING, its a seizure, and there may be a medical reason behind it.

Now.. I worked for PetSmart prior to beginning my own family and owning my rattery. I can tell you right now, take her to the vet, get it figured out, and then go back to PetSmart with the bills. Tell them you love your rat, that you DO NOT want to return her, but that you want reimbursement for the vet bill. After all, if you return her, they're going to wind up taking her to the vet anyway and spending the same amount of money. So, if the store manager themself tells you No, contact the district manager and pitch a BIG ol hissy. You'll get your reimbursement and you won't have to take your rattie back to them. Guaranteed! :)

QUESTION: Well at first I thought it was a seizure, because it didn't seem like a human hiccup, but now I am sure it was hiccups, she didn't seem in pain or anything.

Thank you for you advise though, I will definitely talk to my dad about it, try to convince him, and maybe get back to you if I ave any problems? Thanks so much.

Answer
Absolutely! If you need help on who or where to contact PetSmart (particularly headquarters for your basic area), let me know where you live and what store (location) you were at, I can help you. I know many, many loopholes in the system - I ran my own department in Pet Care, so I've seen many, many things come through.
