QUESTION: i have a male hairless rat. he has a bumb on one of his testies. the first thoght was cancer. what is it? what can i do? he is onl;y about 6 months.

ANSWER:   It is pretty rare for a rat to have a cancerous lump at such a young age, but it isn't unheard of.  The other possibility is that it in an abscess, though with a hairless rat you should easily be able to see the wound it resulted from.  All you can do at this point is take him to a vet to confirm exactly what the lump is and then decide what can be done about it.  If it is on his testicle then neutering him will likely remove it and hopefully he won't get any more.  If it is just an abscess it will be cleaned and he will be put on antibiotics to make it go away.  I hope everything turns out all right for him, good luck!

QUESTION: i have looked all over for a vet and can not find one do you know of one in or near mishawaka in

Answer
I'm afraid I don't.  You may have to go to another town if there isn't a vet near you.  Even if you can find a vet that doesn't normally see rats but it willing to do a little research to help your rat then that would be all right, just call around and see what you can do.  Good luck!
