Question
Hi Sandra,
I have asked some question before, however I am not from US, I have no zip-code to enter. That why my case can't be followed everytime. I am sorry it is going to be a long message.
Here is some question I really hope you can help me. My pet rat, she is 1 year and half year old. She has redness secretion since last December, she has been sent to vet and had injection and some antibiotic. She had fully recovered for a while and the syndrome came back again. Then she had one more injecdtion and antibiotic. And she recoved for a while again. And we moved house, she turn to be very aggressive and bited me badly and always hide every food in her house. And you told me that she might be scared the smell of dog as the previous owner had dogs there. Since we moved her to other location in the house, she was back to nomral, however, her red eyes comes again. I have sent her to vet many times since then, she has been given injection/painkiller to fight the bacteria and different concentration of antibiotic, even eyes drop in case she has eyes infection. But her red eyes insist, the vet has no idea what wrong with her as the injection and antibiotic is no longer helping her.
As I let her out the case and walk in the house all the time, I am thinking isn't that a problem for her to encounter some fungus or disease. And the air flow of my house is poor, because i lived in ground floor, I can't open window all the time. And I also find some silverfish and weird insect in home sometime, but thet vet said that should make no harm to my rat. Besides, she drinks more water than usual. So I have no idea what's wrong with her. It could be great if you have any advice for me. Thanks a million!

Answer
Hi Yorn

Is she eating, drinking and taking treats ok? Is she still full of energy and interested in playing?

If yes, she may have allergies for sure to something in her cage or even her food.
What type of food do you feed her and what litter do you use?
Is she in a cage or glass tank?
Hopefully we can find some answers this time for you.
