QUESTION: better photo is attached regarding Hannibal

ANSWER: This needs removed or your rat will need to be put to sleep due to health problems, esp not being able to eat or drink.  You will need a very good vet to do this surgery though. I have had my own rats have tumors removed from this area and did just fine, but again, you need a good vet, not some quack that thinks they can treat every animal under the sun and know everything about every species.  Not saying your vet is like this, but lately I have had alot of readers write in that lost their beloved rat to the hands of some quack vet that was clueless on how to treat the rat and the rat died because of this.

QUESTION: Thank you very much for your help and very prompt reply. I really appreciate it. I am located in Manchester, England UK. I had looked on the internet for rat vets / small mammals but couldn't find a specialist. The vets I have looked on the internet near me, say "small animals" but I think what they mean is cats and dogs etc etc and not specifically rats. I don't think rats are included in "exotics" in UK.

Thanks for your suggestion about the baby food, I will get some for him tomorrow

Answer
Here you go....exotic vets DO exist in the UK, but the sad truth is, there are not many available.  The good news is, you have this great clinic right smack dab in Manchester!! Please contact them as soon as possible so Hannibal has a chance of recovering without incident!
