Question
Hi Sandra
The vet made no mention of a skin scrape so im not sure he does them. He only said about a skin biopsy as more shows up. He said skin scrapes are a waste of time!!
They are still scratching a bit and im noticing loose fur in their hammocks and box they sleep in (just a small amount as though they are scratching all the time and its coming out)

Thinking of getting the girls a bigger pad. I keep seeing all these cool hammocks, snooze cubes etc and havent got room to put them. At the moment they are in a Freddie cage. Have you got any suggestions for a good one?

Thanks
Vicky

Answer
Oh POOH about skin scrapes being a waste of time!    LOL
I wouldnt dish out that money for a biopsy. That is totally crazy!!

I say get some revolution, put it between their shoulder blades and see  what happens. I bet my left arm they stop itching within a week!!!!!!

As for cages, Martins cages are really good quality..I have a mammoth cage called a Ferret Nation #142.  Its is the size of a refrigerator. I had 4 males in it (big males) Small rats and babies could get  out between the bars but you can add hardware cloth to them. It is so big  but its so easy to clean.

Check out the photos by following the links to my photo bucket:

This is my cage...not my actual cage of course, but this is the picture of it from the ferret nation website:

Here is an amazing ferret nation that belongs to someone that has alot of time on their hands, thats for sure!!:

This last one is of a ferret nation fixed so small rats cant get out by having hardware cloth attached to the cage. It looks good!

I paid $150 and shipping was only six dollars more.  You can put tons and tons of rats in there...you can even divide it and keep rats up and rats down if they need to be kept apart!!!!
