Dark brown spot on rats scrotum

QUESTION: Hi there, my 8 month old rat has a dark brown spot on his scrotum, I noticed this about a month or so ago, thinking that it was poop, but last night I gave him a bath and it was still there. It looks like poop or a mole, it is almost flat and it does not hurt him when you touch it. Do you have any idea what this could be? Thanks

Hmm....looks like a bit of necrotic tissue but I cant be sure without feeling it. Is there a texture to it at all?  Was it ever raised?  If it is a carcinoma, nuetering him will do the trick as long as your vet is a very skilled exotic vet and not just a vet that sees rats on the side along with dogs and cats.   Please let me know what the vet says. I am very much interested in this case. I hope its just a mole. That would make things alot less complicated!!
