A Pinky UPDATE, again

Question
Hello Sandra.

After telling you about how the lump was now pushing on his eye we took
pinky back to the vet and they did an x-ray.

It is in-fact tissue but were not sure if its a tumor or a cyst...which would
need testing to be determined.

They gave us the meds for swelling and pain.

At this point his eye is close to being completely shut. He's got porphyrin
around both eyes and on the one eye it is actually ON his eyeball. The other
eye is beginning to look like it being pushed on.

She said we could take out small pieces of the tissue but that she would not
be able to remove the whole thing unfortunately because of the small amount
of skin atop his head. -- which I don't really understand because its stretched
at this point.
She also said she cant be sure that it wont grow back.
Do you think it would be worth getting the surgery? Even just to relive him of
some discomfort around his eyes?

Im wondering if this is the exact same thing that happened to Big Boy on your
site?

Do you know if his eye was pretty bad?
I haven't taken a picture of it but i will if you'd like to see.

I don't think he's cleaning himself as much, I have seen him do it tho. His
face gets stinky Im not sure if its his eye, or ears but if you have any suggestions on how to clean him without having to stress him out because he
hates being wet and starts squirming when you hold him for too long that
would be awesome.

I appreciate all your help and apologize for so many emails!

Answer
Email me a million times, that is what I am here for!!!

Big boy had a brain tumor that was pushing his eyes outward.

Also, please send me a photo, that would help. Email me at sandsycrittercity@yahoo.com and take as many photos as you can, make sure they are clear and not fuzzy.  Close ups or whatever you can get of him.  Also, I need to know your vets credentials.  I dont have alot of faith in vets and the way this vet lacks confidence makes me uncomfortable.  Let me know who it is in the email so it remains private between us in order to protect privacy, both the Vets and yours.

I will simply check the vets credentials and see just how prepared this vet is to handle this type of operation successfully. I would hate to see this little rat die because the vet lacks the proper skills to operate.  There are alot of blood vessels in the eye and if she doesnt have the proper equipment such as a huge magnifying lense some vets wear over their eyes to see tiny veins etc....and also the proper sized tools just for tiny mammals and not substitute with dog or cat stuff, this can cause severe blood loss and all of this can be avoided if it was the right vet. Hope you dont mind my trying to help like this.
