Question
QUESTION: Hello again!
after all the reading, i now today, got my ratties! Well, sadly, i only got 2, why? beacuse the pet-shop only had 2..
LOL oh well.
I named my 2 BABY boys, Chip & Dale. Chip..well he has those markings that start from his head, down his back. so he has a soild gray head, then the markings that go down his back. so he's gray and white.
Dale... He's all black with a white tummy :) But he's more smaller then Chip, so he's like a little brother.
Sadly, the cage at Petco is $100.00 so i got a small no level cage for rats, But don't worry! i'm going to order the Rat Skyscraper from Martins Cages when they fit in and i get them use to me, i'll move them into that cage when it comes.
Now, i believe i have a problem with Chip & Dale...
i got this one bedding called: Easy Comfort.
and, i don't know if it's any of those bad beddings, it doesn't say what's it made out of.
Chip & Dale have little chirp like sounds they give off, like snezzes, is it the bedding? if so, then i will change it right away. they make that sound every 5 mins, and they ich alot.

Thanks!
Kate, Chip, And Dale :)

ANSWER: Hey congrats!

You can make a single story cage fun....get shoe boxes and make a cardboard castle, get the hammocks and string them across the cage. Someone used a leg from a pair of jeans for a tube to hang and the rats loved it.  Beware of the urine though.  Males love to mark their spot.

also VET! Even if they are fine its good to have one just in case. Let me know and I will help.

The litter....its recycled newspaper and magazines.

QUESTION: Okay,
So, how would i train them? They aren't shy, they let me pet them whenever i want, but they won't let me pick them up,but they never tried to bite me, Dale nibbles my finger sometimes tho.
and about their food, my freind says veggies and fruit and some grains are fine for them, is that true? and can they eat bread?
Thanks!
~Kate

Answer
Check out my website. I have a page on how to train rats that are shy or simply dont like being held and also a page on diet.

Remember, they are new and do not know you and need to build a trust with you. Go slow and read up on my site and you will break the ice with them in no time!
