paint fumes

Im thinking of painting my kitchen this year and was wondering as my rats are in my living room which is very near to the kitchen wether the fumes of the paint will harm them or cause a problem with there breathing.

Are you using latex paint?  It wont hurt them, but I would try to see if  you can possibly put their cage in the batrhoom with the door shut, at for 24 hrs.  Open windows in the kitchen too....air the house out.  Make sure of course its not lead base which isnt good for anyone, man nor beast!
