Question
I was reading your article about the rat who might have a broken jaw..instead might have a birthdefect called malcocclision? Or something like that? I believe my rat destiny has that esp. Since her teeth are sooooo long except one broken tooth.. the symptoms are identicle to that persons rat, neith. I asked my vet who specializes in exotic (but now that I think of it..not) and was wondering if you can provide a vet who can clip teeth. This vet who I saw said I would have to put the rat under to clip teeth, but according to the internet, rats can have their teeth clipped without that.. am I wrong? Help! I'm desperate at this point. My rat has a ton of energy. She is 2.5 years old roughly and has A LOT of spunk left in her. She cant lose any more weight by not really eating. Shes already had 2 abcesses (one below jaw on neck and one between her ear and eye) shes been on antibiotics, baytril, and eye antibiotics and now a small amt of pain killer. I live in zip code 92626. I dont want to put down my spider monkey if i dont have to. The dumb but keeps scratching off her neck scab from the abcess. Her jaw is slightly bowed but not sure why or for how long. Help. Any special vets near me? Im lost and confused...like i said, i dont want to put her down if she still seems like shes enjoying life...
