Could my rat have a tumor?

Question
Hi,
I have two male rats that are about to turn two. I purchased them from a breeder as rescues. They had respiratory problems when they were younger, but those have been resolved and for the past year my boys have been happy and healthy.

A little while ago, I noticed one of them had two growths on the outside of his left ear that look like pimples. The weren't affecting his behavior and he was acting normally, so it didn't concern me. The bumps grew at first but since have stopped, one is about a millimeter in diameter with the other a bit larger. Today, however, I was just checking the same rat out and noticed what I think is a tumor on his balls. It's pretty small, maybe a bit bigger than a pomegranate seed and round. What do I do (about both the one on his balls and his ear)? I have a vet I can take him to, but she's not very experienced with small mammals.  Should I wait and see? Is there any way to tell of these are tumors? Any information would be much appreciated.
Thank you,
Emma

Answer
Can you possibly send me a closeup photo or two of the growths that look like pimples?  I would highly recommend going to a vet, but not the one you mention.  If they are not experienced with exotics, then they could make a mis-diagnosis that could prove disastrous.  Are you willing to travel a little bit of a distance to get to a good exotic vet?  If so, what city do you live in and perhaps I can help locate a quality vet for you within a reasonable distance.
