Question
hi i brought two male rats of a lady both a year old one of the males when you get him out the cage has a wea and its wea (urine) has a red colouring to it the rat seems happy playfull and eats well what do you thing is wrong with him thankyou katrin annable

Answer
Red urine is definitely not normal and is likely a sign of a bladder infection, kidney infection, or even organ failure.  The last one is probably not the case, as if he were in organ failure he would be in very poor condition, so it may be something as simple as an infection.  You'll have to take him to the vet for an exam and some antibiotics to treat it.  Though it isn't an emergency, don't wait too long as urinary infections can be quite painful and if it is something worse like kidney or bladder stones it can be fatal if it is left too long.  I hope he gets better soon, good luck!
