not sure if i trust my vets diagnosis

Question
okay so my rat's really ill. she's in between two and three years and she's white.

her symptoms are she has loads of that gunky stuff (sorry don't know what it's called) almost constantly seeping out of her eyes, and she has a bit of a weepy nose as well, I've also noticed she's very lethargic and weak. she appears to have trouble walking and standing, she's eating and drinking fine though.

my vet says it's just a cold but I'm really worried because it seems a lot worse than just that, do you think i should get her checked over again?

Answer
Rats are immune to the common cold virus.  Your vet is a quack.  You need a new vet. She has possibly a respiratory infection in her lungs.  Please see my website and the page here for info on what may be causing it and how to treat it.

Meanwhile, where are you located?  I would like to find a good vet for her before it gets worse.
