Scratch on my hairless rat

Question
Acouple of days ago there was a small scratch on my hairless rat. I have two females and they do play rough sometimes. It's been about 4 days since she has this and it has gotten bigger it is about the size of a dime maybe even a little bigger I haven't seen her picking at it but it looks like she has because there is fresh blood on it. I was wondering if it was ok to put neosporin or something else on it to make it heal faster because it looks like it hurts and I don't want it to get infected, but I wasn't sure if it was toxic to rats.

Answer
Hi Jamie

Neosporin is perfect to use and I would have suggested it if you asked what to use.  Just rub it in really good mainly because it will defeat the purpose of using it if they lick it off (which they will ) so rub it in and keep her busy for a bit (at least 5 minutes) so it can absorb in and do its job.   If they lick it off after that its ok.  It may soften the stool just a tad but thats the only side effect you will see.

Hope this helps!
