Porphyrin out of 1 eye?

Question
Hi.
My little baby boy, Shadow, is about 2/3 years old and I'm
worried about his porphyrin. It's only coming out of his
right eye in excessive amounts. He hasn't had any previous
medical problems that I am aware of, though he is getting
on the old side. I've been feeding him good food and
haven't changed his diet at all. What is happening?

Answer
If he's honestly 2-3 years old, he may be just getting that old-man porph. A lot of older rats begin producing more mucus and sometimes its just out of one eye or their nose and not following any change or trauma. If he's still acting like he feels okay and eating/drinking just fine, I'd say just keep an eye on him. He sounds like a normal old man.

Good luck!
