hair falling

QUESTION: i have a male rat his hairs are faaling and are yellow from the bottom and also has yellow spots on the back skin??

wat should i do..
plzzz  help me

ANSWER: The yellow is most likely staining. Is he rex (curly) coat? That would explain the hairloss. Have you had him checked for mites?

bathing itself doesn't help.. you'd need to treat him with an anti-parasitical-type medication if he has mites, in order to get rid of them. However, you have to determine if he has them at all first. Since you haven't seen any that you've mentioned... you need to have a skin scraping done at a vet.

If it comes back negative, it may be something else; but that's a place to start.
