Question
I have a rat that is a little older than three weeks. I was letting her run around in my bathroom and my mom accidentally squooshed her with her leg! She says she didn't put all her weight on it, but the baby is now walking slower, slightly hunched, and weezing. At first she was gasping, but she stopped after a few minutes. PLEASE I DONT WANT HER TO DIE!!!!!!!! I don't know what to do for her! I tried putting her back with her mom and siblings. Please help me! What should i do!

Answer
What can I do to help you? If she has internal injuries not much can be done. All you can do is take her to an emergency vet tonight. If the vet thinks her ribs are broken and her lungs are collapsed he should put her to sleep. Please dont let her suffer. It has to hurt to be crushed and still live like that.

From now on, you must not let your rats loose in an unprotected area. They should be contained in a playpen. You can read up on how to construct one that the rats cant get out but you must be with them during their playtime. Nobody should be allowed in the pen with them but you.   I hope she makes it.
