Question
MY PARAKEET CURLEY HAS STARTED LOSING FEATHERS FROM HIS HEAD IT LOOKS LIKE A BALD PATCH. IS THIS NORMAL MOLTING OR IS HE ILL?

Answer
Can you see any tiny, straw-like growth in this area?
This is moulting season and that might be all it is, but if you don't see those little new feathers breaking through in the next couple of days, it's well worth taking Curley in for an evaluation.
It could be a minor infection, parasite or something else, but no matter what it is, catching it early is generally the most successful and least costly option.

Feather pluckers as a behavioral problem tend to start with feathers on their chest or wings. And since behavioral feather plucking is probably the hardest habit to deal with, you can be happy this isn't likely the problem.

Good luck with your little one and let me know how it goes ok?
