Question

baby amazons
i just recently took 2 amazon babies. 1 double yellow head and a yellow nape amazon. the lady who had them took very ill and was put in the hospital. these 2 are 9 weeks old. they are down to 2 feeding per day. my problem is they are only eating about 20cc per feeding in morning and at night, they are nibbling on pellets and other food i keep down for them(cheerios, pea pods, bean sprouts, grapes and so on) but i check there crop and it feels empty. i have not seen them drink water. i tried to use a syringe but they wont take it. they are starting to fly around the house. but I'm worried they are not eating enough. should i be worried or is this normal for the age? thanks

Answer
You can try offering them pellets soaked in all natural, organic apple juice or plain warm water until they start eating better.

Be absolutely sure that soft food is changed out every two hours to avoid bacterial infections.

You should also get regular weights on them to be certain they're thriving

Take a look here for a more complete guideline that includes how to do weights (see the girls on their scales) and feeding options that you can eat along with the birds
