Question
I've owned a male quaker parrot for the past five years now and I have noticed that each springtime (a bird's natural mating time) he gets more and more aggressive every year, how do I solve this without being forced to get him a female bird-mate? His cage is in a "non-traffic area" next to a window to see outside and to relieve him of stress. It's understandable that, me being his "favorite", he nips at others, but each year it has gotten to the point of him drawing blood from not only others, but myself as well. I do not want to get him another bird-mate because I know quakers bond to only one person (or animal) at a time. What can I do?

Answer
--  Check out my page under 'egg laying' (it also applies to males that are feeling their oats).

Be forewarned that rarely can certain 'springtime' behaviors be eliminated, but they can successfully be reduced enough to hardly notice

As for the bonding issue, you're quite right, just one or two people get their true bond, BUT if you push the socialization and introduce new people, new situations and new input on a regular basis it's very possible to see a very different bird in no time.

Again, there are more tips and guidelines at my site.   Really take a look and if you commit to it, it shouldn't take more than a week to see huge results.

I can get big changes in some very neglected or abused birds in 8 days.  Often less.
