Fancy Mouse skin flaking and fur loss

I recently noticed that my fancy mouse has had hair loss around his neck, along with white flakes of skin and scabbiness.  I think it may be mites but I'm not sure, and if it is, what should I do?

Yes, that sounds like mites.  There are a few other options, including allergies, but treating for mites is a good start.  There is a mite spray made by 8-in-1 both in rodent strength, and in avian (which is less strong and therefore less irritating to the mouse).  Natasha has some great instructions on how to use it here:  http://en.allexperts.com/q/Mice-3824/2009/2/Mouse-mites.htm
