ANSWER: If your cage is a large one, you can have a range, have one end near or at 90 and the other end about 80, you can gdo that easily by putting a heat mat on the 80 end and a higher watt heat lamp on the other, but make sure you keep the tank humid by spraying it with water throughout the day, as light/heat will dry it out.

For the number Of crabs you have, I would start with 2 or 3 tablespoons at first, if they don't eat it all (they don't eat much at all) you can reduce it to a tablespoon, hermit crab canned food is expensive and to have to replace 2 tablespoons of it every day when they won't eat it all is wasteful. As for favortie foods, they LOVE things they would find in their natural habitat, over ripe fruit (mushy bananas and peaches, etc.), fish and crustations. You can get a can of tuna or canned sardines (don't get the kind with flavors like mustard or hot) and shrimp or mussels/clams. If you can find uncooked shrimp with the shells on, give them a few of those every now and then, when they eat the shrimp shell, it gives them extra calcium and chitin that the crab can then use when he molts to build a better shell for himself. Hermit crabs like things that are stinky because they can smell it better, the stinkier you find it, the more they will like it.
