Question

crabitat
I have 4 great little crabs.. edward, bella, alice , and rob.
I just got them a nice spacious aquarium, and have sand on one side, and cypress bedding on the other...
they all went and just buried themselves all together... but they aren't molting... they didn't have a change in color.. didn't spend more time in the salt or fresh water dishes... didn't have cloudy eyees..didn't act different... it's like they just love being buried in that stuff... they were buried for 4 days before i realized edward had come up for water or something and went back... i could see him, he wasn't completely buried. so i carefully turned him over, he came right out and said hello ha ha. the others did the same. i keep the tank sprayed and it's nice and warm and humid. they have everything they need really. but they just wanna go bury themselves. i'm worried about them. what are those silly crabs doing?

Answer
You've got a great started on your crabitat! I have some suggestions though.

1. Get rid of the cypress bedding, it's not good for them. Pick up some coconut fiber bedding (like eco earth or tropicsoil)

2. Get some silk plants from the craft store it wil provide cover and make them feel safe, they like to climb too.

3. Get a light (even a desk light if you can't manage more) they really need light to be healthy.

4. Get a thermometer/humidity gauge to let you know exactly what your crabitat is working at

This should encourage your crabs to come out more often!
