loss of hair, redness, dry skin

Hi..my daughter's guinea pig has in the past had spots where he's lost hair and redness occured..we thought that he was rubbing against the cage. I was out of town for a couple weeks and upon returning, found that the situation has escalated. He now has lost hair upon his back, and an area in roundness above his buttocks about 2 inches across. His eating and drinking habits haven't changed..gets purified water with vitamins, dried carrots and occasional treats..any ideas? Your help is greatly appreciated! Oh..he's approximately 2 1/2 years old, an albino with red eyes, white hair.

Hello..your daughter's guinea pig has mites! YOU need to go to a local feed store and pick up ivermectin paste! (I use the brand called IVERCARE ) it shouldn't cost but maybe $10..and it is a horse dewormer... Once you buy this..email me for dosing instructions!
