QuestionMy male G.P. was neutered 2 months ago, & 2 days ago my female gave birth. I left him in the cage because I read that he was neither a sexual nor aggressive threat. Although he was kind to the babies, he appeared to be mating with the female, who predictably went into heat a few hours later. I'm terrified he got her pregnant again, especially sice she was only about 7 wks. old when she got pregnant the first time. (You've heard it before, we thought it was a male.) I had my male neutered because I thought it would decrease chances of them fighting later on. I now learn that's not true for guinea pigs. Would their postneutering sexual behavior still include actual intercourse?
AnswerHi Rachelle
I have to be totally honest, I am not sure of the answer to your question. However, I am 99% sure that your male will not be able to impregnate your female after 2 months have passed since the neutering.
Neutering does reduce aggression a bit, but as you say, not nearly as much as it does in rabbits.
Sorry I cant help more
