death of entire litter

Question
My 9month old guinea pig gave birth to 5 babies, all of which were dead.  This is her 3rd litter. In the previous 2 litters, only 1 baby was born dead. Why would an entire litter die?

Answer
Hi Matthew

There are lots of factors to consider. Who was the father for example. Inbreeding can cause birth defects.

The most likely cause though is that the mother was unable to remove the babies from the small pockets they are in when inside the mother so they didnt have air.

The problem is is that there are many things that could have happened and I am speculating.
