Guinea pig and new water bottle

Question
Hi Cindy,

I hope you can help me with this issue.  I have a guinea pig who is refusing to drink water from her new water bottle.  I threw her previous one away because it was old and leaked.

I googled this question and someone suggested boiling the water bottle to get rid of that new smell/taste.  I did this but she still will not drink.

She is eating her veggies and pellets.  She is not exhibiting any signs of dehydration as she's not lethargic and she is urinating (just not as much as normal, this is a pig would used to drink a lot of water).

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Tanya

Answer
Yes, I'm sure that it tastes different. Are you sure that it didn't melt or warp in inner seal? I would probally wash it in the dishwasher
with some Tang. It is to clean the dishwasher. I heard that cleans out any bad taste.
I really am not too sure, but you know, change is difficult. All living things need to learn to adapt. I would say to just watch her water intake. She may want you to give her the water by holding the new bottle in your hand.  The thing is she will get thirsty enough and she will use the new bottle.
Have you placed it in exactly the same place? Is the angle of the spout the same. It will work out alright in a few days, so don't worry. Always just try to only change one thing at a time!  Good Luck, Cindy
