air travel with guinea pig

Question
We are moving across country and will be flying. Is it safe to take our guinea pig Oreo on a long flight? It is a 2 hour drive to the airport and a 4 hour flight with a 3 hour lay over then another 1 and a half hour flight.

Guinea pigs do best if they are kept on the plane with the passengers, under the seat if the airline allows it. Guinea pigs can also fly cargo, but it is very stressful and an extreme environment. I would recommend trying to get her to transport under your seat, otherwise it is up to you whether to fly her in cargo, it is very stressful, but if she is a calm pig she will get over it.
