Dying Guinea Pig?

Question
I have had a guinea pig for about 5 years now.  The past week he has not touched his food, water or treats.  Today he took a small bite out of a carrot.  He is moving very slow, and making no sounds.  Eyes are clear and so is coat, but he seems like he is blind as well.  I put my younger female in his cage and he showed no interest, a week ago he would of loved it.  Perhaps he is just getting old?

Answer
Hello Gerrard,
It sounds like he may be going blind, but he also sounds like he is ill. Not eating or drinking is not a good sign and I would personally take the guinea pig to a vet to get looked at and I would try hand freeding the guinea pig with a feeding syringe and by smashing up his food and mixing it with pedialyte or water. Here is more info on hand feeding. http://www.guinealynx.info/handfeeding.html
Good luck and keep me posted on how things go.
