piggie hair loss

Question
Hi there,
I have two abys. guinea pigs.  They are both female and both 2 and a half years old.  One is significantly larger than the other and seems to be the submissive one.  The smaller pig is starting to lose some hair around her belly.  (on the sides)  When I started to notice it, I added vit c to the water (in case she wasn't getting enough)  She is not bald  in the area but almost has a "peach fuzz" kind of hair.  Any ideas?  I would appreciate your input.  Thanks!

Answer
Hello Allyson,
it sounds like the female guinea pig may have a cyst or tumor on her ovaries. The best way to get rid of them is to have her spayed and I would take her to a vet so they can diagnosis it properly. Here is a link for more information about ovarian cysts.
