my new pet guinea pig

My Guinea Pig has been acting like she is trying to go to the bathroom but can't.  I changed her litter box to see if she was going and when I checked it she has pooped alot but it looked like she had blood in her urine.  She is just a baby around 4-6 months old, she ate carrots last night and got some good exercise.  Should I take her in to see a vet?  I have never owned a Guinea Pig.... do they have periods?

If your guinea pig seems to be straining to use the bathroom, i would take her to the vet asap. It could be urinary infection. A young guinea pig can have a brownish tint to it, but if you honestly think you are seeing blood I would take her in to be on the safe side.
