Question
Hello

I bought a three month old female guinea pig from a pet store on the 18th of may, I noticed just two days after I bought her that she was pregnant, it has been over a month and she still hasnt had her pups, my questions is; is it normal for it to take this long to ahev her babys after all she had to be four weeks pregnant when I got her for me to notice it at all.

Answer
Hello and thanks for the question,

The gestation period of a GP is 65-70 days on average. It is quite dificult to "know" a GP is even pregnant. If a vet states they are and it has been close to 65-70 days, she WILL have the pups.

If it has been MANY more days and you KNOW that she is pregnant, take her to the vet. She may have to have surgery to remove the pups (which are most likely dead). If she has her pups VERY late, they will be dead (most likely) and she will be in grave danger of dying herself.

Thanks and I do wish you good luck,
Ryan
