high pitched alarm sound

Question
Our guinea pig is almost 3 yrs old and last night made the most horrendous noise.  She sounded like a fire/smoke alarm.  What could this possibly mean.  She has done this once before.  We gave her a carrot and she stopped.  We live in Montana and have had some major weather changes lately...could that be the problem?  Any insight on this issue would be appreciated.  Thank you!

Answer
Hi Amy

Usually a high pitched sound is due to something scaring a guinea pig.

Please bear in mind that piggies hearing is many times more sensitive than humans so it could have been something you couldnt even hear.

The possibilities are endless and the weather is definately a good probability. Let me know if the noises get any more frequent but I'm sure its nothing to worry about.

Piggies have powerful voices when they want to use them dont they?
