is my guinea sick?

one of my female guinea pigs has a cough, she is about 6mths old and could be potentially pregnant.  i would like to know if this maybe pregnancy related or a chest problem.  She has no other symptoms and is her usual self

How often do you hear this "cough" in your guinea pig?

Some guinea pigs tend to get hairballs, similar to a cat, stuck in the back of their throat. Usually it's as a result of them grooming themselves, and they'll emit a noise that sounds similar to a cough, or a hack. If your guinea pig is not breathing hard, or seem to be having any respiratory distress, then this is most likely the cause.

If you find that she is breathing hard, sneezing, or has a runny nose with discharge, then it is possible that she has an upper respiratory infection, and will need to see a vet immediately for antibiotic treatment.
