Surprise! A new baby!

Question
We adopted Flower in November and then Horse in Jan or Feb.  We were told by a Vet that Horse was a female.  if that were true...some how there is a baby in there with two females!  The baby keeps following Flower.  I have so many questions, I don't know where to begin!

I built my cage out of grid squares, but the holes are too big for the little one and s/he can get out.  I doubled on the grids, but I don't feel comfortable.  If the baby is following Flower mostly, can I assume she is the mother?

If yes, Can I take Flower and Elephant (you should see the ears) out of the cage and put them in the guinea pig I purchased from the pet store?  The space between the bars is perfect.  Or will moving them upset everything and maybe hurt Elephant?

Can I clean their cage?  I just don't want to upset the new family.

thanks!

Diane

Answer
Hello,
Watch Flower to see if Elephant suckles off of her, then you can be sure she is the mother as if you take the baby away from her mum she will most likely die. So make sure before you separate them. Yes, it would be better to transfer them to the new cage. As long as you don't drop the baby or mother then moving or holding them for a few minutes should be fine. Moving won't upset anything as after the first day you can touch the babies anyway. If you want to clean their cage then put the both into a cardboard box/animal carrier with wood shavings or hays on the floor and leave them there while you clean it. Then when finished pick them carefully up and place them back.
I hope this helps and good luck.
