Question
My almost 7 year old guinea pig, cuddles, has been squeaking nonstop!  She is acting like she is starving, we haven't changed anything in her diet, but she has been emptying her pellet dish, and screaming for more.  She is lively, has bm's, and urinates normal.  I think she has the dewlap? It is rather large ... Does that  act like a tape worm because she is acts starving!  Thanks for your help!

Answer
If she's emptying her bowl then she's hungry. Give her a larger bowl. What you describe is a healthy pig. I'm not sure why you're saying she "has the dewlap". A dewlap is a rather fatty hanging loose skin under the chin and is most prevalent in older, chubby pigs. It's just that...fat. It dangles under the chin but causes no harm at all. It's like humans who get fat arms and have flaps of skin underneat their upper arms. Purely a cosmetic thing.

There's nothing that sounds like tape worm. A tapeworm invades the digestive system and lives off the food the animal eats. That causes them to get thin. I've never heard of a cavy getting tape worms.

It just sounds as though she wants both attention and more food. Give her all the pellets you can, and give her some fruits and vegetables to satisfy her need to chew. I can't see or read anything that indicates a problem.
