Long road trip across country with my guinea pig

Question
Hi, I read some response about long car rides with pigs, and am very good with animals, I will have her in her full size pen with same food as at home, I'm driving across the country in 4 to 5 days. I have taken Sophie my pig on a 7 hour drive b4 and she did very well, just a bit curious and I comforted her and gave her nice lettuce treats along the way. Overall she travels very well, I am just a bit worried about this trip because it is so long...I will be staying in hotels, and plan to bring her in with me of course, any thing I should keep in mind for this very long car trip? Thanks in advance...Regards, Sean

Answer
Not to worry. Every year ARBA has a National Convention and people travel from all over the country to whatever state the convention is in. The pigs do better than the humans. Just remember to take extra shavings so you can change the bedding on the way.

Many hotels allow the pigs inside and if you have a small carrier that you can put her in (like a cat carrier) at night you can put the cage in the tub or shower so there aren't shavings all over the floor for the maids.

She'll do just fine. All she wants is fresh food and water, that's it. They're great travelers. So have fun and enjoy your trip.
