Teddy Bear Hamster Behavior

Question
I have a Teddy Bear Hamster that is a year old.  I've never had any problems with her health or behavior wise, but in early December I got another hamster and kept him in a seperate cage that was probably around 10 feet away.  She started to constantly try and get out of her cage and was just working herself up too much seemingly to get to him.  I gave the male hamster to a friend to resolve the problem and until yesterday she has been fine and acting normally.  Now she just wants to get out again.  I had tubing going up into a lookout and she liked it a lot in there, then all she wanted to do was try and get out and I think she's super hamster because she managed to get out several times with several small solutions we had (i.e., duct tape the top door of the lookout shut).

I can't imagine what's driving her to just try and get out by any means all the time.  I don't think she's in need of medical attention, but if she keeps this up I don't know what to do.

Answer
Dear Amanda,
thank you for your question.
When hamsters notice that they can get out of their cage, they will do so again and again and will keep trying. You might want to consider getting a bigger cage, for example a 20 or better 30 gallon with a wire lid. That will give her more room and tank are harder to escape from than normal cages.
I hope I was of some help to you
